Continuing the Tradition of Homeschool Baseball

Our Story

The Austin Texans Baseball team was founded by a group of dads who desired a more inclusive homeschool baseball program. After their boys graduated, they passed the torch to a new group of parents who shared the same vision. This group started the Texans Homeschool Athletic Foundation, an organization that is committed to providing a faith-based homeschool baseball program to the Austin community. The journey has not been easy; the passing of their beloved founding head coach and dad, Steve Crone, forced the group to pause and reflect. The pandemic also presented challenges, but the group persevered and came through their first Spring season together. The wheels are still attached to the wagon, and the Texans are not slowing down. I cast the vision for our program and bring people together.

I have been a baseball fan for most of my life. I have also homeschooled my children since they were babies. I love being able to encourage others to embrace both homeschooling and baseball through this organization!

VP of Operations

Kenneth Willlis

I oversee our volunteers to bring our goals to life.

I have been involved with the Texans organization for multiple years starting with the Fall of 2021 when I helped coach the Fall team. I then stepped in to coach the JV1 team in the Spring of 2022 that both of my boys played on and volunteered again through the Summer and Fall of that year working with the various coaches in the organization. Overall, I have coached for over 14 years from the time my oldest was 4 years old until the Fall of 2022. I have a positive attitude on the field and a belief in teaching players to not only better themselves on the field but also in life. Personally, I have been married to my wife Janice for 27 years and we have 4 kids ranging in age from 11-18 years old. My oldest, Gavin, just moved away to college at UTSA where he will be pursuing a degree in cyber security. Iain is currently a sophomore at Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park, Madeline is in 6th grade and Catherine is in 4th grade. Our kids have been in homeschool, private school, charter school and now in Leander ISD. Gavin, Iain, and I are all ushers in our church on Sundays and Janice and I have previously taught kinder for 2 years prior to 2020. I currently work as a Technical Architect supporting the public sector and have been with my company for almost 17 years. I have enjoyed my time with the Texans organization, and I look forward to serving in any way I can.

VP of Ethics

Open Position

This role consists of ensuring that our coaching staff is fully background checked and supported as they are the frontline in upholding our code of conduct. This board member is the first one that parents, players and coaches reach out to with concerns about our behavior standards.
There are monthly board meetings to attend, plus 4-12 hours of asynchronous work per month. Communication within the board is via slack. Communication with families is primarily through WIX.

Board Treasurer

Open Position

This role consists of issuing payments to various entities, tracking budgets, purchases and invoices. There are monthly board meetings, plus 8-16 hours of asynchronous work per month. Communication within the board is via slack. The duties of the Treasurer involve the platforms: Frost Bank, WIX, Paypal and Quickbooks Online.
